Possessed by Vodka: A Martini

There's nothing like a cool martini to make you feel fancy. Maybe it's the glassware. Maybe it's the alcohol. Or the cultural use of martinis for sophisticated characters. When I get a martini, it's usually cause i'm in the mood for something different and want something to change it up. Also I will most likely order just one so it's a nice to just have a cocktail and call it a day.

Martini

Ingredients

2 oz Vodka

1 oz Campari

1 oz Lemon juice

1 oz Simple Syrup

1/2 oz Orange Juice (about one quarter of a large orange)

Garnish: Orange Slice

Recipe

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, begin the process by carefully pouring in all the ingredients. It's important to start with the alcohol, as this helps to ensure that it mixes well with the other components of your cocktail. Follow the alcohol with the juices and the simple syrup.

Once all the ingredients are in the shaker, securely close the lid to prevent any spills. With a firm grip, shake the mixture vigorously until the shaker feels cold to the touch, which typically takes about ten seconds.

After shaking, it's time to strain the mixture into your glass of choice. While a classic martini glass is often the preferred vessel for many cocktail enthusiasts, I personally find that a coupe glass adds an elegant touch.

To finish off your cocktail, garnish it with a slice of orange. This not only adds a pop of color but also provides a delightful citrus aroma that complements the flavors of the drink. Sip and enjoy!
