Gin and Tonic (Romantic Version)
I'm all for a little gin right now. If you've seen the last couple posts, it's been all I think about. I recently went to McClintock's in Frederick, Maryland and tasted their liquors. I then fell for this gorgeous gin that is aged and super flavorful. It inspired me to get into my gin and tonic vibes. This option adds lemon and grapefruit to make something almost sour. It's perfect for when you want something powerful and you really want to taste the gin. Cause you definitely will.

Gin and Tonic (Romantic Version)
Gin Cocktail

Ingredients
1 1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Lemon Juice
4 mint leaves (muddled)
4 dashes of edible pink glitter
Top with Tonic Water
Garnish: Grapefruit peel

Recipe
In a cocktail shaker, begin by taking a handful of fresh mint leaves and muddling them dry. This process involves gently pressing and twisting the mint leaves with a muddler or the back of a spoon, which helps to release the essential oils contained within the leaves. You basically want to smack the mint around a bit to ensure that the aromatic qualities are fully extracted, but be careful not to shred the leaves into tiny pieces, as you want to maintain some of their integrity for presentation and flavor.
Once the mint has been adequately muddled, the next step is to add a generous amount of ice to the shaker. This ice will not only chill the cocktail but also help in further mixing the ingredients as you shake. Following the ice, pour in a measured amount of high-quality gin, which will serve as the base spirit for your cocktail. The choice of gin can significantly affect the flavor profile, so opt for one that you enjoy, as its botanicals will complement the mint beautifully.
Next, add freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mix. The acidity of the lemon juice will balance the herbal notes of the mint and the botanicals of the gin, creating a refreshing and well-rounded drink. To add a touch of whimsy and visual appeal, sprinkle in some edible pink glitter. This ingredient not only enhances the aesthetic of the cocktail but also adds a hint of fun, making it perfect for special occasions or gatherings.
Once all the ingredients are in the shaker, securely close the lid and shake vigorously until the shaker feels cold to the touch, which should take about ten seconds. This shaking process is crucial, as it thoroughly combines the ingredients and chills the mixture, ensuring a refreshing sip with every pour.
After shaking, take a fine strainer and strain the mixture into a rocks glass that has been pre-filled with a large ice cube. The large ice cube will melt more slowly than smaller ice, keeping your cocktail chilled without diluting it too quickly.
Finally, to complete your cocktail, top it off with tonic water. The tonic will add a slight bitterness and effervescence, enhancing the overall flavor and making the drink even more refreshing. For the finishing touch, garnish with a twist of grapefruit peel. The citrusy aroma of the grapefruit peel will elevate the cocktail's fragrance, providing a delightful sensory experience as you take your first sip. This cocktail, with its vibrant colors and refreshing flavors, is sure to impress and delight anyone who tries it.
