This week, I have been craving something sweet. I also have been hearing tons about espresso martinis. I think it's all the fall vibes and the dreams of cooler weather. The weather in Maryland is still on the tip of fall. It's getting there and hopefully this cocktail will simply add to it. I love a good espresso martini when it's mixed and easy to drink. With the hints of raspberry and coffee make for something that transitions with you to the cooler weather. It's a cocktail that you can have at the end of summer when it's still a little warm out. It's all about dessert and giving yourself a sweet treat.

Sweet Espresso

Espresso Martini/Vodka Cocktail

Ingredients

2 oz Vodka

1 oz Kahlua

1/2 oz Chambord

1 oz Coffee

1/2 oz Milk

3 dashes of Cocoa Bitters

Six raspberries (muddled)

Garnish: Raspberries

Recipe

To begin crafting this delightful cocktail, start by taking a cocktail shaker and placing a generous handful of fresh raspberries into it. The raspberries will serve as the foundation of our drink, providing a vibrant color and a burst of sweet-tart flavor. Using a muddler, gently press down on the raspberries to release their juices, ensuring that the rich, fruity essence is fully extracted. This process not only enhances the flavor profile but also allows the natural sugars in the raspberries to blend seamlessly with the other ingredients.

Next, add a small amount of ice to the shaker. The ice will help chill the mixture as you combine the other components, ensuring that the cocktail is served at an optimal temperature. It’s important to use fresh, clean ice cubes to avoid any unwanted flavors.

Now, it’s time to pour in the spirits. Start with a measured amount of vodka, which will serve as the base spirit of the cocktail, lending its neutral flavor to allow the other ingredients to shine. Follow this with a splash of Kahlua, a rich coffee liqueur that brings depth and a hint of sweetness to the mix. Then, add Chambord, a raspberry liqueur that not only complements the muddled raspberries but also adds a luxurious layer of flavor and a beautiful hue to the drink.

To enhance the cocktail's complexity, pour in a shot of freshly brewed coffee. The coffee will provide a robust, earthy note that pairs wonderfully with the sweetness of the liqueurs and the tartness of the raspberries. Finally, add a splash of milk to create a creamy texture that balances the drink and adds a velvety mouthfeel.

To elevate the flavor even further, dash in a few drops of cocoa bitters. These bitters will introduce a subtle chocolate undertone, enhancing the overall richness of the cocktail and tying together the various flavors beautifully.

Once all the ingredients are in the shaker, securely close it to prevent any spills. Shake vigorously for about fifteen seconds, ensuring that the mixture is well combined and chilled to perfection. The shaking process not only integrates the flavors but also aerates the cocktail, giving it a light and refreshing quality.

After shaking, it’s time to serve. Double strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe glass to ensure a smooth pour, free of any raspberry seeds or ice fragments. The chilled glass will help maintain the drink's temperature, allowing you to enjoy it at its best.

Finally, to add a touch of elegance and visual appeal, garnish your cocktail with a few fresh raspberries placed delicately on the rim of the glass or floated on top of the drink. This not only enhances the presentation but also reinforces the flavors of the cocktail, inviting your guests to indulge in this delightful Raspberry Bliss. Enjoy your creation responsibly!
