It's National Margarita day for 2021 and I have to say it is not my favorite holiday. I'm not a big tequila person but I know how to make a mean margarita. My mom loves margaritas so learning how to make a good one was essential for life.
Bloody Margarita
tequila margarita
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz Mezcal
1 1/2 oz Tequila
1 oz Blood Orange Juice
3/4 oz Cointreau (orange liqueur)
1/2 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Simple syrup
Garnish: Salt rim and a lime wedge
Recipe: This combo tequila and mezcal margarita really hits the spot. In a shaker with ice, pour mezcal, tequila, blood orange juice, cointreau, lime juice, and simple syrup. Add a smidge of salt. Shake until cold. Pour into a chilled margarita glass with crushed ice. Optional to do a salt rim, I like a combo of salt rim and a lime wedge just to balance out the tequila.
Sweet but deadly
margarita
Ingredients
2 oz Tequila
1 oz Grand Marnier
1 oz Lime juice
1/2 oz Simple syrup
3 Strawberries
Garnish: Strawberry slice
Recipe: Get three strawberries (size counts three small equals one large). Slice the strawberries into fairly thin slices. In a cocktail shaker, muddle strawberry slices with the simple syrup (this helps the strawberries to open up and makes it easier to muddle). Add ice then tequila, Grand Marnier, and lime juice. Add a sprinkle of salt. Shake until cold. Use a strainer to strain from cocktail shaker so you don't end up with strawberry seeds in your cocktail. Add crushed ice. Garnish is always the optional salt rim and a strawberry slice.
Pro Tip: The sprinkle of salt is for the tequila. It really opens her up. Trust me. Or don't. Try it once and I'm telling you will see the difference.
Go Have a Margarita! It's the holiday requirement.
