Today is a beautiful day and with the heat so high, I've been really into the summer weather frozen cocktails. This one combines the basics of a margarita with the refreshing coolness of watermelon ice.
Tequila Frozen goes down well
Watermelon Margarita Slushie
Ingredients
6 to 9 Watermelon Ice pieces
2 oz Tequila
1 oz Grand Marnier
1 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Garnish: Glass Straw
Recipe: To make watermelon ice, chop up watermelon into small pieces (you can use a melon baller to get a nice size). Place it in a freezer bag and freeze it for at least 24hrs. To thaw, leave it out in the fridge for at three to six hours before you have the cocktail. For the cocktail, place six to nine watermelon pieces in the smoothie blender. Pour lime juice, tequila, grand mariner, and simple syrup. Pulse for fifteen to twenty seconds. Basically to get a nice consistency and not to let the watermelon thaw too much. Serve in a chilled highball glass with a straw.
