Calvert County Spots: The Locals Know

This month flew by, while I created a bunch of content most of it will go out in the next month. I was busy working and helping my parents pack up my childhood home. It's crazy to think about the decades of life that were a part of that house. It makes me emotional to think about it. So for our final weekend last weekend, we went to a few great places. Starting with Neptunes and then to Running Hare and Wheelhouse, each place has a great vibe. A little different but all speak to the Calvert County way. It's chill and local focused.

Neptunes

A dive bar located in North Beach, Mayland, Neptunes is an institution. It holds a lot of memories for my family and my heart will never get over that first taste of zucchini straws. A great bar if you want to watch sports, talk with locals, and get a great drink. It's small (it was even smaller before the redesign) but that doesn't mean that it's not always busy. From food orders to drinks, this bar is keeping up with all the noise.

Running Hare Vineyard and Southern Maryland Beer Garden (Biergarten)

I don't like Running Hare wine. It's way too sweet for me. But so many people do. I like going to Running Hare to go to the Biergarten. It's a nice outdoor spot with a variety of local beers. The beers rotate but they always have my go to. Mully's Blood Orange Blonde is a staple for me. It's easy to drink and not too heavy. Perfect for sitting outside and sipping a beer and talking things out with family or friends. Located more southern in the county, this was always a drive for my family. It usually was a spot we would hit up after a hike or a walk. You can bring dogs which was perfect for my parents dog who loved walks by the water followed by snacks for good behavior at the biergarten.

The Wheelhouse

I've already mentioned in this blog about Wheelhouse having great cocktails. It's a favorite in my family for the holidays. A nice outdoor space and a small inside space that is perfect for cocktail sipping. I love their espresso martinis and smoked bourbon drinks. Also their halloween decor was peak.
