Basil Problems but None of them Mine

This Basil twist on a Gin and Tonic is the perfect after work cocktail. It will be the best way to use up a little basil and also elevate your simple cocktail game.

A Little More than Basic but Not Too Much

Gin and Water

Ingredients

2 oz Lemon Gin

4 oz Sparkling Water

Six Basil Leaves

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Garnish: Basil

Recipe: In a cocktail shaker, muddle basil leaves and simple syrup. Add ice. Then Pour Lemon Gin (or substitute gin and lemon juice). Shake until cold and strain into a highball glass with ice. Top with Sparkling Water. Garnish with basil.

Lemon Gin is gin that ferments with lemon peel. You can do this at home or buy a bottle. To do it at home, you need to peel a lemon and put the peels in a mason jar. Pour gin on top and leave it in a dry cool place for at least twenty four hours. The best is if you give it a week to sit with the lemon then you can strain it out into a flask or whatever bottle you want.
