There's nothing like a good cocktail and a good holiday! Halloween is my favorite and this champagne cocktail is something to celebrate. A little spider ice cube will make anyone's day!

Spider Ice Cubes

If you are lucky enough to find a spider ice mold, then you mix water and edible glitter and set the spider molds. Leave it in the freezer for a couple hours.

Champagne Cocktail

1 1/2 oz Gin

1/2 oz Lemon Juice

4 Blackberries (muddled)

Top with Champagne/Sparkling Wine (about two to three ounces)

Garnish: Blackberries and spider ice cube

Recipe

To create a delightful and refreshing blackberry gin cocktail, begin by gathering your ingredients and tools. You will need fresh blackberries, high-quality gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, ice, and sparkling wine, along with a cocktail shaker, a muddler, and a coupe glass for serving. In a cocktail shaker, start by adding a generous handful of ripe blackberries. The vibrant color and sweet-tart flavor of the blackberries will form the base of your cocktail, providing both visual appeal and a rich taste. Using a muddler, gently press down on the blackberries to release their juices. This process, known as muddling, helps to extract the essential flavors and aromas from the fruit, creating a more robust and flavorful cocktail. Once the blackberries have been muddled into a juicy mixture, it is time to add ice to the shaker. Fill the shaker with ice cubes, ensuring that there is enough to chill the mixture thoroughly. The ice not only cools the drink but also helps to dilute it slightly as you shake, balancing the flavors and creating a smooth texture. Next, pour in a measure of high-quality gin. The choice of gin can greatly influence the final taste of your cocktail, so opt for one that complements the fruity notes of the blackberries. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mix; the acidity of the lemon juice will brighten the flavors and add a refreshing zing to the drink. After adding the gin and lemon juice, securely close the cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for about 15 to 20 seconds, or until the shaker feels cold to the touch. This step is crucial as it not only mixes the ingredients thoroughly but also chills the cocktail, ensuring a refreshing experience when served. Once you have achieved the desired chill, it’s time to strain the mixture into your prepared coupe glass. To do this, employ a double strainer. The first strainer, typically a built-in strainer in the shaker, will catch larger pieces of blackberry pulp and ice, while the second strainer, often a fine mesh strainer, will ensure that any smaller bits are also filtered out. This results in a smooth and elegant pour, allowing the vibrant color of the cocktail to shine through. In the coupe glass, consider adding a spider ice cube. This unique ice cube, often made using a special mold, not only enhances the visual appeal of the drink but also helps to keep it cold without diluting it too quickly. Finally, top off your cocktail with a splash of sparkling wine. The effervescence of the sparkling wine adds an exciting fizz and elevates the overall drinking experience, making it feel festive and celebratory. To finish off your presentation, garnish the cocktail with a few whole blackberries placed delicately on top or skewered on a cocktail pick. This not only adds a beautiful visual contrast but also invites the drinker to enjoy the fresh fruit flavors as they sip. Enjoy your meticulously crafted blackberry gin cocktail, a perfect blend of fruity, tart, and bubbly elements that is sure to impress at any gathering or serve as a delightful treat for yourself.
