Tequila Tuesday is a staple in our house. My mom loves her tequila and while I don't vibe with it, the rest of my family does. So in honor of them, I'm sharing my favorite way to have tequila with a little lime and a lot of grapefruit juice!
A Great Grapefruit
Tequila cocktail
Ingredients
2 oz Tequila
1 1/2 oz Grapefruit juice
1/2 oz Lime juice
Optional: Seltzer or Club Soda
Garnish: Salt rim
Recipe: I love this cocktail because it is so easy for a non-bartender to replicate. I wanted to concoct a cocktail that my mom would love and also would be easy for her to do without me. All you have to do is juice half a grapefruit or you could use grapefruit juice (I prefer to juice the fruit because it has no added sugar). In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour grapefruit juice, lime juice, and tequila. Shake until cold. Pour into a margarita glass with a salt rim and some crushed ice.
PRO Tip: My additions that you can do with this cocktail are: lessening the amount of tequila and adding in mezcal for a smoky flavor, using club soda or seltzer to reduce the strength of the cocktail, and adding in a little simple syrup (like a half ounce) to make it sweeter. These additions/subtractions are perfect to make the cocktail perfect for your tastebuds and desired cocktail strength. That's what is always amazing about this cocktail: you make it yours. I make it one way but I love that each person can make it their own. It's a simple cocktail with great potential!
