Sparkle Anyone?

This week I'm all about that touch of sparkle. It's starting to feel like spring, it's getting warmer, I'm starting to change out the wardrobe. I'm ready for a little sparkle! Today it's a simple cocktail elevated by a pretty decoration.

This is a simple blood orange whiskey sour. What makes it special? The beautiful purple glitter rim. Sometimes you just need a cocktail that is a favorite but want to make it fancy. A glitter rim does that and takes very little time at all.

Purple Dreams are made of this

Whiskey Sour

After I juiced the lemon in my cocktail shaker, I used one of the leftover halves to wet the outside of the glass. I then dipped the glass into a plate with edible glitter to get the desired glittery rim. It's so simple but makes the cocktail look so cool. I wouldn't suggest using the blood orange to wet the rim because then you would get orange everywhere. It would also add more of a flavor to the glitter which isn't necessary. It's here to be pretty not messy.

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon/Whiskey

1 oz Cointreau (orange liqueur)

1 oz Lemon juice

1 oz Blood orange juice

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Garnish: Purple glitter rim

Recipe: In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour all ingredients. Give it a good shake and pour into an old fashioned glass. Serve with a large ice cube.
