With just a few ingredients, you can craft a refreshing drink that is ideal for hot summer days. All you really need is a little gin and a little grapefruit juice. This is my version of a salty dog.

Salty Summer
Gin Cocktail

Ingredients
2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Cointreau
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
6 Mint Leaves
1 sugar cube
Garnish: Mint Leaves and Grapefruit Slice

Recipe
In a cocktail shaker, muddle sugar cube and mint leaves. You want to completely break up the sugar cube and really smell the mint. Add ice then pour grapefruit juice. Pour Bourbon and Cointreau. Close and shake until cold to the touch (about ten seconds). Strain into a coupe glass (might want to double strain to keep out the mint). Garnish with mint leaves and a grapefruit slice.

Pro Tips
This cocktail is one for the gin and grapefruit juice lovers. You have to love both flavors to really enjoy it. It's a nice savory cocktail that goes really well with salty and buttery snacks like popcorn. Perfect for an afternoon happy hour or an afternoon tea. It's a simple and balanced drink.
