New Year New Goth
Updated: Feb 3, 2021
Whenever I start a new year, I always make a few resolutions. I like to clear out my space and find what brings me joy. For me, a new year means a fresh start. This new year I am focused on being my best self and cut out things that no longer bring me joy. I am trying out skincare products that work for my face and body. As much as I like to try out stuff, I think it's important to also recognize what works and what makes you happy. I did a clear out of all my products and made lists for my purchases of things I do like. I am trying some new things this month: no wine on weekdays, fitness every day, and facial rollers and self care skincare.
No wine on weekdays seems like an odd choice for someone who blogs about cocktails. For me, it's an important step to notice what I'm putting in my body and also to help me lose weight. I don't think I'll stick to this change for the whole year but I think it's important for me to limit myself right now and live with a clear head on the weekdays. This will help with my fitness goals and also with my work goals. Right now, I tend to overindulge because of stress and I need to limit that so that I'm not constantly switching between drunk and hungover.
Fitness every day is a goal that has been on my mind for a while. As much as I have tried, I have noticed that recently I haven't been able to be as active as I used to be. Exercise is crucial to my mental and physical health. I feel more relaxed, happy, and powerful when I work out. I get out my nervous energy and thoughts when I go for a run, nail a yoga pose, or ride a horse. Since I have fallen off the wagon, I need to get back at it. It's not something that I am willing to give up. I don't want to give up on myself. So I have to push myself to do the work and make time to do a bit of exercise every day and see the results. If I did it before, I can do it again.
Facial rollers and self-care skincare is something that I have thought about for a while. I'm a big person on taking care of your skin and taking the time to do it. I have thought about adding facial rollers to my skincare routine for a bit and I have made the decision to purchase and start adding it to my routine. I think that this will add a new level to my skincare routine and provide time to slow down the process. I'm excited to try it and see what results will occur. I think it will help me to go back to my old self where I would put a face mask on every night and relax before I went to bed. Hopefully it will also help me to stay looking and feeling youthful!
So after thinking over my three resolutions for the new year, I have no choice but to try! It's Monday and I need caffeine and motivation to be my best self and work hard to take care of myself. I'll keep you updated with posts about my progress and how I motivate myself to keep going (the no wine one is going to be hard to adjust to!).
