Let's Celebrate the New Year with Bourbon

I love bourbon. A bourbon old fashioned is my favorite F this day drink. When I date, I love to order it to see how my date responds. I've had people try to match me and fail, people who admire me for it, and the best of all: people who drink it with me. To celebrate the new year, I've decided to use bourbon in new ways and show a new level of enjoyment for bourbon and chill celebrations. I want to also make bourbon a little more inclusive so it doesn't just stick out as something so strong and heavy.

Honey I just love you

Bourbon bees knees

This cocktail is a great introduction to bourbon. It's not heavy with the bourbon flavor (lemon is a great balancing agent) but still maintains a strong cocktail. I like this cocktail as a way to introduce bourbon to someone. It's great especially if you like sweet and sour combinations and a perfect date night cocktail. I like to make it for cocktail hour before I make dinner. It gives you the opportunity to settle down and rest from the day and also take a little time for yourself.

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon

1 oz lemon juice

1/2 oz Dry Vermouth

1 spiral of Honey

Garnish: Lemon wedge

Recipe: In a shaker with ice, pour bourbon, lemon juice, dry vermouth, and honey. Shake until cold. Pour into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Bourbon on Ice

Bourbon sour

Bourbon sours are such a traditional cocktail. They can be made up or down depending on mood and purpose. I love a chilled bourbon sour especially in the summer because it's cool but also warm to taste. The last time I made a bourbon sour it was fireside and after a bad day. The bourbon was definitely needed and appreciated.

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon

1 oz Orange Liqueur

1 oz Lemon juice

1 oz lime juice

1/2 oz simple syrup

Recipe: In a shaker with ice, pour bourbon, orange liqueur, lemon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake until cold. Pour into a double old fashioned glass with a large ice cube.

Say goodbye to the new year
