Let me take you to the Tropics

Whenever it gets a little too long in winter, I try to imagine myself somewhere warmer and brighter. Just so happens that the best way to do that is with cocktails! This week, I'm featuring some lovely tropics inspired cocktails that you can make year round to enjoy the taste of warmth.

The taste of the tropics

tropical punch

Ingredients

1/2 cup Pisco

1 cup Hypnotiq

1/3 cup Blue Curacao

1 cup Pineapple juice

1/2 cup Lime juice

Recipe: In a large pitcher, pour all ingredients. Stir and pour into a highball glass with ice. Serve with a lime wedge. This is a fun tropical punch that is a perfect pitcher drink. Just make sure to keep stirring the punch before you serve it so your guests get all the flavors. I always offer sparkling water if someone wants a little less punch.

Melon Melatonin

Ingredients

2 oz Gin

1 oz Melon Liqueur

1 oz Lemon juice

1/2 oz simple syrup

Recipe: In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour all ingredients. Shake for about twenty seconds (until the shaker feels cold) and pour into a chilled coupe glass. This is a great party cocktail! Super easy and not overpowering. It can be a little sweet so definitely have some salty nuts or charcuterie to help balance out the sugar with it.

Springtime swingtime

Bourbon cocktail

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon

1 oz Lemon juice

1/2 oz Cointreau

Top with Blackberry ginger ale

Garnish: Blackberries

Recipe: In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour bourbon, lemon juice, and cointreau. Shake until cold. Pour into a Tom Collins (highball) glass with ice and then top with the desired amount of blackberry ginger ale. This simple cocktail always gets me excited for springtime! It's a perfect simple cocktail after a long day or week.
