This pretty bourbon cocktail is a great lifeline for a quick party. Inspired by my love of Murder She Wrote, I thought about this cocktail as being a bit of a hidden surprise. You don't see that it's going to be as strong or as easy to drink and it is both! This cocktail is not for the weak.

Bourbon Cocktail

Ingredients
2 oz Bourbon Whiskey
1 oz Blood Orange Juice
1/2 Maraschino Cherry Syrup
2 Rosemary Sprigs
Garnish: Maraschino Cherry and Rosemary Sprig

Recipe
In a cocktail shaker, muddle rosemary sprigs (pull the rosemary leaves off the sprig and muddle them at the bottom of the shaker). You want to open up the rosemary so that it hits you in the face. Add ice. Then pour bourbon, maraschino cherry juice (the liquid that your maraschino cherries sit in), and blood orange juice. Close the shaker and give it a nice ten seconds (make sure the whole glass is cold). Double strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and rosemary sprig.

PRO Tips
This cocktail is deceptively sweet: you think with all that juice that you won't get the hit of bourbon or the rosemary but you do. Nothing is too overpowering. It is a great drink for a little happy hour to impress and pairs nicely with a salty snack. I love it with a charcuterie board because it really makes the rosemary stand out.
