Basic Bitches Unite

My second post of the "Not Basic but Basic" series is a solid winter twist on a go-to favorite for many people. Yes, I am talking tequila and I am talking about a margarita. Margaritas are not what I would call a dive bar drink but they are definitely a very popular cocktail and a little basic. My twist ups the ante by adding in blood orange juice. As the blood orange season starts in my winter season, this cocktail version is very popular in my home as a winter go to cocktail. I love it cause it adds the color and coolness that I think is very much needed to a good at home cocktail. Something that refreshes while also nails the post work from home stress day fatigue.

A Bloody Good Time

Blood Orange Margarita

Ingredients

2 oz Tequila

3/4 oz Grand Marnier

1/2 oz Mezcal

1 oz Blood Orange Juice

1 oz Lime Juice

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Garnish: Salt rim

Recipe: This one is for the winter basic bitches. In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour all ingredients. Give it the shake of your life. Rim your margarita glass with salt. Pour from the shaker into the margarita glass. Specifications: I always serve my margaritas with crushed ice in the glass but to each is own and I will often put a little sea salt in my cocktail shaker to help open up the tequila and blood orange flavor. These are choices. You choose your battle and your cocktail. Make it your own and fall in love with it!
