Egg whites are really scary

I will admit that the idea about adding an egg white to a cocktail is crazy to think about and actually do. It's not for the beginner. This new step for me is a big one. But I mustered the courage and I did it! My strawberry gin cocktail is going to make your summer and also impress your guests. It's the perfect Spring cocktail.

Getting Eggy With It

Gin Sour

Ingredients

2 oz Gin

1 oz Cointreau

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

1 oz Lime Juice

Four Strawberries (muddled)

Egg white

Garnish: Strawberry

Recipe: In a cocktail shaker, muddle simple syrup and strawberries. Add gin, cointreau, and lime juice. Separate your egg white from the egg. If you're really good at separating you can do it over the shaker. I prefer to do the separating to the side in a shot glass (so the egg white goes in the shot glass) then pour into the shaker. This is more my comfort level and experience. After adding the egg white, close your lid and give the cocktail a nice shake. Strain (possibly double strain if you like me want to make sure not to have any residual seeds) into a coupe glass. Garnish with a strawberry.
